Best Rate Guarantee

A hotel or platform promise that if you find the same room cheaper elsewhere within a defined window, they will match or beat the lower price.
A best rate guarantee — sometimes called a price-match guarantee — is a promise from a hotel or booking platform: if you find the same room, with the same dates, room type, and inclusions, listed cheaper on another site within a defined window (usually 24-48 hours from booking), they will match the lower price or refund the difference, sometimes with an extra discount.
The value of the guarantee depends entirely on the fine print. Most policies require an exact match: same hotel, same room category, same cancellation policy, same number of guests, same bed type, same view, and sometimes the lower price must be publicly bookable (not from a member-only deal or package). The matching site usually has to be live at the moment of submission.
The two scenarios where best rate guarantees genuinely save money: (1) when a hotel offers a direct-booking rate that is meaningfully cheaper than the OTA you used, and (2) when an OTA flash sale appears within the guarantee window. Outside those scenarios, the guarantee provides peace of mind more than active savings, but it is essentially free to claim if you spot a lower price.
