Booking.com’s tiered loyalty programme that unlocks discounts of 10-20%, free room upgrades, and free breakfast at participating properties after a small number of bookings.
Genius is Booking.com’s loyalty programme. Members earn tier levels — Genius Level 1, 2, and 3 — based on the number of completed stays in the past two years. Each level unlocks progressively larger benefits across participating properties: discounts of 10-20% on the room rate, free room upgrades, free breakfast, late check-out, and welcome drinks at select properties.
Genius status is free and automatic. Level 1 unlocks after 2 completed stays; Level 2 after 5 stays; Level 3 after 15 stays in 2 years. Each tier increases the percentage of partner properties offering benefits. The deeper the tier, the more frequently a property in your search shows the Genius badge.
The programme works best for travellers who already prefer Booking.com — it does not change the underlying room price beyond the listed discount, but it does meaningfully reduce per-stay cost over time. For occasional travellers, the discounts are modest but real. For frequent travellers, especially in Europe and Asia, Genius Level 2 or higher often makes Booking.com the cheapest direct-to-OTA option.
