Informed Sport Certification
Also known as: Informed Sport, batch tested supplement
A batch-by-batch testing program for sports supplements run by LGC. Products are tested for banned substances and contaminants before they reach the consumer.
Informed Sport, run by LGC Group, is the strictest batch-level testing programme for sports nutrition. Every batch of every product is tested for a list of substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) — including stimulants, anabolic agents, and a long list of contaminants. Only batches that pass earn the Informed Sport logo, which lists a unique batch number traceable to the certified test.
For competitive athletes subject to drug testing, Informed Sport certification is effectively non-negotiable. The supplement industry has a long history of contamination — fillers, manufacturing line cross-contamination, and adulterants — that can produce a positive drug test even when the user did nothing wrong. Informed Sport reduces that risk to near-zero.
For recreational lifters, Informed Sport certification is a strong quality signal: the brand is willing to pay for independent batch testing, which usually correlates with cleaner sourcing and manufacturing in general. The other major certification mark is NSF Certified for Sport, which provides similar assurance and is more common on US-market products.
